What happens when people like you, people like us, take to the stage and open ourselves up? Last year you heard 28 everyday, ordinary folk tell extraordinary, inspiring, heartfelt, honest to the core stories. We built community. We raised $8,000 for our children’s groups. We gave a voice to the island.
And that was just the beginning.
Industry. Identity. Imagination.
With three new incredible events in the works for 2016 your diary definitely just got three times more exciting. What WaiTalks did for the topics Love, Light, Laughter, and Land in 2015, we’re about to do even more for Industry, Identity, and Imagination.
OUR NEARBY GOODNESS.
Together we raised $8,000 for our nearby goodness in 2015. Who is… Jassy Dean Trust which has supported hundreds of local families during times of crisis so families can focus their attention on their child’s needs, The Happie Project which develops children as earthpreneurs through events, workshops, projects, outdoor classrooms, products and online services that are green, ethical and creative, and the Waiheke Island Steiner School which provides an holistic education that inspires innovative learning & creativity alongside encouraging children to find their own authenticity. This year we’re shooting for the stars because these groups deserve it. Let’s give it all we’ve got – $20,000 for these organizations in 2016. We can do it.
A fresh as logo
Welcome to the new gorgeous face of WaiTalks. You recognize the sleek lettering no doubt, but that beautiful dandelion in the center, that’s something quite new and spectacular my friend. Last year we learned that WaiTalks is something quite unique. WaiTalks is the man who speaks even though his voice may tremble. It’s the woman who throws her ideas into a current of backlash. It’s those of you who dream for the sake of dreaming. The dandelion is us and our stories. Because what blows in our Waiheke wind better than stories?
A tag line worth a thousand words
After listening to 28 magnificent stories and learning from 28 Waiheke-grown speakers we realized that WaiTalks is about enriching the Waiheke community through our stories. That’s what TED does. WaiTalks is about growing as a community. WaiTalks is about people like you battling the inner turmoil of having to become vulnerable in front of your peers, but coming out stronger and more powerful by the nights end as you realize that you are an integral piece of us, and us an integral part of you. There is no doubt that we are the ordinary people, brave enough to share our extraordinary stories.
